Creating Meditations

Use your own script

You can bring a meditation script from anywhere: one you wrote, a passage from a book, a story or poem, or a draft from another AI tool. Open Meadow accepts scripts in any format and turns them into spoken audio with pauses.

Paste a script into the chat

  1. Choose New Chat.
  2. Paste the script into the message box. The box shows "Paste your script here or start a chat".
  3. Say what you want Omi to do with it, for example "Create a meditation preserving this script as is" or "Adapt this script to be 10 minutes long".
  4. Omi creates a Script Draft. Review it, then choose Save & Play.

One chat message can hold up to 40,000 characters, so the chat also fits scripts longer than the Instant Player's 20,000. The Instant Player can also turn a complete script into audio without a chat.

Adapt or preserve

Omi handles a pasted script in one of two ways. It usually chooses for you from what you ask. If you know which one you want, say so.

ModeWhat Omi doesUse it when
PreserveKeeps your wording and pauses as close as possible to the original. Only converts the script to Open Meadow's format. The script is finished and every detail matters, for example your own writing, affirmations or a prayer.
AdaptCan split dense paragraphs into shorter passages, add pauses, expand an outline or condense long guidance, while keeping the spirit of the original. It can also work toward a target duration. The material is good but not yet a finished script, or the length matters.

Preserve works best when the script contains everything to be spoken and gives a length for every intentional pause. With Preserve, Open Meadow cannot guarantee a target duration, because the text stays as it is. Adapt works better when the length matters. You can also ask for a specific kind of adaptation, for example "keep the wording but add longer pauses".

Draft Details, in the More menu of the draft card, shows the Writing Mode Omi used.

Formats Open Meadow accepts

Any format works: plain paragraphs, notes such as "(pause for 10 seconds)", numbered steps or a script with headings. Omi converts it to Open Meadow's script format, with a title, sections, speech and pause markers. If you write in that format yourself, Omi has less to convert. See Pauses and the Meditation script format guide.

Write a script with ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini

Many people draft scripts in another AI chat they already use. The process is the same:

  1. Ask the other chatbot to write a meditation script.
  2. Copy the script.
  3. Paste it into an Open Meadow chat, or into the Instant Player.

The other chatbot can follow Open Meadow's format if you share the format guide. A prompt like this is usually enough, because most chatbots can read the page:

Can you write the meditation using Open Meadow script format?
https://openmeadow.ai/script-format

For a precise, refined script, for example one written for other people, a short interview helps the chatbot understand what you want:

I want you to write a guided meditation. Before you begin, interview me
one question at a time to clarify the result.

For a script of a specific length, see Duration.
