Open Meadow has four kinds of voices: ElevenLabs, Gemini, Kokoro and custom. They differ in sound quality, languages and cost. You can listen to all of them on Voices and languages.

These figures cover voice generation only, and scale with the length of the speech. Writing a script with Omi uses a smaller, separate amount of credits. Voice cost is estimated per character of speech, so actual usage depends on the script.
ElevenLabs voices
ElevenLabs voices have the most natural sound, and most of them speak many languages.

ElevenLabs voices are available with the subscription, during the trial, for Early Users, and with a positive extra-credits balance. On Free, they use extra credits only. When the extra-credits balance reaches zero, Kokoro and Gemini voices keep working. Meditations that already have ElevenLabs audio keep playing it.
Gemini voices
Gemini voices are generated with Google's Gemini text-to-speech. Each one speaks almost any language, so the same voice works for English, Polish, Korean and many others.

Nora is the recommended Gemini voice and the default for new meditations. See Defaults for new meditations.
On Free, Gemini voices use the monthly credits first, then extra credits. Google offers a 50% discount on Gemini voices until December 31, 2026, and Open Meadow passes it on. Generating the voice for a 30-minute meditation uses about 3 credits until then, and about 6 credits from January 1, 2027.
Kokoro voices
Kokoro voices are the lowest-cost option and work on every plan. They come from Kokoro, an open-source text-to-speech model, through Together AI.

Grace and Kate are the most popular.
Kokoro voices also exist for Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Hindi, but they are labeled Low quality in the app. For those languages, Gemini and ElevenLabs voices sound much better. See Meditations in other languages.
Custom voices
Custom voices come from your own ElevenLabs account, including clones of your own voice. Audio made with them uses your ElevenLabs credits. See Custom voices.
Choose a voice
Each meditation has its own voice, set in Playback Settings. Default voices for new meditations are in Preferences, under Default Player Settings. Changing the voice of a meditation generates new audio for it. See Voice, music and ending sound.
