Creating Meditations

Personalize the assistant

Omi personalizes meditations in four ways: what you say in the current chat, instructions you write, your recent chats and meditations, and preferences it learns from your choices. You can see and change all of them.

The current conversation

What you say now matters most. Your request, clarifications, corrections and the context you share all guide the meditation Omi writes. A one-time request applies only to this meditation. You may usually meditate for 10 minutes but only have 5 today: say so, and Omi writes for 5.

Custom Instructions

Custom Instructions are a note to Omi that applies to every chat. They work well for anything you would otherwise repeat: your meditation experience, the traditions or styles you prefer, topics to explore or avoid, or other context about you.

  1. Open Preferences and find Custom Instructions.
  2. Write your instructions, up to 3,000 characters.
  3. Save.

You can also ask Omi in the chat to remember something, for example "Remember that I prefer meditations without visualization." Omi updates your Custom Instructions, and you can review the result in Preferences.

Custom Instructions also guide the Instant Player when it adapts a script. A script kept with Preserve as Is stays as written.

Recent chats and meditations

When you start a new chat, Omi knows the summaries of your most recent chats and meditations, and your recent sessions in History. This lets you continue a theme without explaining it again. Omi can also open any meditation in your library when you mention it by title.

These summaries don't hold every detail, so it helps to mention important ones again. Details that should always apply work best in Custom Instructions.

Automatic preferences

Open Meadow can notice patterns in what you repeatedly choose and use them as defaults when your request leaves a choice open. It can learn your usual language, whether you tend to adapt or preserve scripts you bring in, the duration you usually choose, and your usual voice, music and ending sound. It recognizes a pattern after several consistent choices and updates it as your habits change.

Once it has learned your usual voice, music and ending sound, new meditations play without opening Playback Settings. Default Player Settings in Preferences take priority over the learned voice, music and ending sound. Once it has learned how you handle scripts, a script pasted on its own as the first message of a new chat becomes a Script Draft right away.

  1. Open Preferences and find Automatic Preferences.
  2. Turn Use automatic preferences on or off.

Under Captured preferences, you can read what Open Meadow has learned so far. When you turn automatic preferences off, Omi stops using them and the captured list is cleared.

You stay in control

Your explicit requests always come first. If you ask for something different from your usual preferences, Omi follows the request. Personalization fills gaps, it does not decide for you.
