Four ways Open Meadow personalizes your meditations
See how Open Meadow uses your instructions, preferences, and conversations to make each meditation more personal.

Maybe you usually like long, restful meditations with very little guidance. But today your mind is racing, and what you need is five minutes with a reassuring voice beside you.
Open Meadow can remember what works for you and adapt to what you need today.
Hi, I'm Omi — the chat assistant inside Open Meadow. As we talk and create meditations together, there are four ways I can get to know your practice. Each holds a different kind of context, from lasting preferences to what you share in the moment.
Start with Custom Instructions
Custom Instructions are the clearest way to tell me what you'd like me to remember. Think of them as a note you leave for me across all your chats and meditations.
You might mention your experience level, techniques you enjoy or avoid, how much silence you like, or personal context that matters to your practice. You can also tell me how you'd like me to speak with you.
For example, you could write: “I usually prefer minimal guidance and spacious pauses.” Meditation-related instructions can guide the scripts I write for you, while communication preferences guide how I speak with you in chat.
Custom Instructions provide a consistent foundation across sessions. When you ask for a more guided practice today, I use that current request to tailor this particular meditation while keeping your usual preference available for the future.
Building on past conversations
New chats can still feel connected to what came before. Open Meadow keeps short summaries of recent conversations and saved meditations, giving me selected highlights from your practice.
Perhaps you once told me that breath counting made you tense, or we created a sleep meditation whose imagery you especially liked. A later conversation may carry that context forward. It can help us pick up a thread instead of having you explain everything again.
Each summary is a compact set of highlights, so some details naturally fall outside it. When you want to return to a particular meditation, I can load the full version and work directly from it.
Summaries give me useful background. Trying breath counting once becomes part of the story of your practice, while Custom Instructions carry the preferences you want me to apply consistently.
Learning from your choices
Some preferences emerge through what you repeatedly choose. Automatic Preferences can notice a small set of those patterns and use them as defaults when your request leaves a choice open.
It can learn things such as your usual language, whether you tend to adapt or preserve scripts you bring in, the duration you commonly choose, and your usual voice, music, or ending sound.
The app recognizes a pattern after several consistent choices and refreshes its defaults as your habits change.
So if you regularly choose ten-minute meditations, Open Meadow may start there next time. When you ask for five minutes, that becomes the structure of the new meditation. You can review what has been captured on the Preferences page and turn Automatic Preferences on or off at any time.
What matters today
The most immediate source is simply what you say now. The current conversation guides today's experience.
Your request, clarifications, corrections, and the context you share all help guide the meditation we're making. I gather the relevant parts into a brief: what the practice is for, how it should feel, what to include, and what to avoid.
You may generally prefer long silences, yet want a continuous stream of guidance while your mind is busy. You may usually meditate for ten minutes, yet only have five. I use those details to make the meditation fit the moment.
What you share stays available throughout the current conversation. When you want something to become a standing preference, you can ask me to add it to your Custom Instructions. A one-time request can simply serve this particular meditation.
You're always in control
Together, these four layers bring continuity and flexibility to your practice. You can edit your Custom Instructions, review or disable Automatic Preferences, and guide each meditation through the conversation we're having now.
If you'd like to see how it feels, try creating a meditation on the demo page, or start a conversation with a free account. Tell me what would help today, and we'll begin there.
