2. Privacy Mode

Open Meadow offers an optional Privacy Mode for users who want enhanced privacy protection:

  • When enabled, your chat conversations and meditation content are encrypted in the database
  • We (the administrators) cannot access your encrypted content
  • This ensures maximum privacy for sensitive personal reflections

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve Open Meadow:

  • To create and maintain your account
  • To generate personalized meditations based on your requests
  • To store your meditation library and practice history
  • To debug issues and improve app performance
  • To communicate with you about your account or the service

We do not:

  • Sell or share your data with third parties
  • Use your content to train AI models
  • Use your data for advertising or marketing
  • Share your data with anyone except as described in this policy

4. Third-Party Services

Open Meadow uses the following third-party services to provide functionality:

AI Services

  • AI Models (via Vercel AI Gateway): We use various AI models (primarily Google Gemini 3.0 Flash and OpenAI GPT-4.1) to generate and refine meditation content. These providers have no data retention policies—your prompts and generated content are not stored by them.
  • OpenAI Whisper: We use OpenAI's transcription service for voice input. Audio is transcribed and immediately discarded—it is never stored.
  • Fal.ai: We use this service to generate generic cover images for meditations. These images contain no personal information.

Optional Services

  • ElevenLabs: If you choose to use ElevenLabs text-to-speech, you provide your own API key. We do not have access to or control over ElevenLabs' data handling. Please review their privacy policy separately.

Infrastructure

  • Digital Ocean (London): Our database and file storage are hosted on Digital Ocean's UK infrastructure

5. Data Storage and Security

  • All data is stored on secure servers in London, United Kingdom
  • Privacy Mode content is encrypted in the database
  • We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your data

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Access and Export

  • You can export all your data at any time through the app

Deletion

  • You can delete your account at any time through account settings
  • Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our systems
  • This includes your account, meditations, chat history, and all other content

Privacy Mode

  • You can enable or disable Privacy Mode at any time
  • This encrypts your chat and meditation content in the database

7. Data Retention

  • We retain your data only as long as your account is active
  • When you delete your account, all data is permanently deleted
  • We do not retain backups of deleted user data beyond standard backup retention periods (typically 30 days)

8. Children's Privacy

Open Meadow is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. International Users

Open Meadow is operated from the United Kingdom. If you access the service from outside the UK, your information will be transferred to and stored in the UK.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when changes were last made.
