Plans and credits
Open Meadow uses AI and voice services that cost money to run. Credits are the unit we use to measure that usage.
Credits do not impact features that don't have a direct cost for us, such as meditation playback or download.
About Credits
A credit is a usage unit. The exact number of credits used can vary with the length of the meditation, the voice, the script, and the generation steps involved.
10-minute standard voice
10-minute premium voice
Why the number can vary
- Credits cover the steps that create new work: chat, meditation writing, and app-provided voice synthesis.
- Premium voices cost more to run than standard voices, so they use more credits.
- Longer meditations use more credits because more audio has to be generated.
- Small differences come from the script length, the writing process, and whether audio is synthesized again.
Plans
There is one paid plan, called simply the subscription. The trial and free plan let you use the app without subscribing.
14 days, premium voices, no card required.
- One allowance for the whole trial
- Personal use only
Each month, with standard voices.
- For light personal practice
- Saved meditations stay available
$10 per month.
- Premium voices included
- Commercial use included
More details
- Free and subscription credits refresh on the first day of each calendar month in your selected timezone.
- Monthly credits do not roll over.
- Starting a subscription starts a fresh subscription allowance. Usage before subscribing does not count against the new subscription period.
What uses credits
Credits are used when Open Meadow creates something new with AI or an app-provided voice. They are not used for normal listening.
Uses credits
- Chat with Omi
- Writing or adapting a meditation script
- Generating standard voice audio
- Generating premium voice audio
- Resynthesizing audio or changing to another app-provided voice
- Generating a high-quality cover image
Does not use credits
- Playing an existing meditation
- Replaying already-generated audio
- Downloading already-generated audio
- Voice transcription when talking to chat
- Standard cover images and background music playback
How far credits go
These are some realistic estimates. Shorter meditations usually use fewer credits. Longer meditations and premium voices use more.
| Length | Standard voice | Premium voice |
|---|---|---|
| 5 minutes | about 0.5 credits | about 2 credits |
| 10 minutes | about 1 credit | about 4 credits |
| 20 minutes | about 2 credits | about 8 credits |
| 30 minutes | about 3 credits | about 12 credits |
| 60 minutes | about 6 credits | about 25 credits |
What that means in practice
- Free covers about 15 standard 10-minute meditations each month.
- The trial covers about 12 premium 10-minute meditations total, or many more standard ones.
- The subscription covers about 24 premium 10-minute meditations each month, or about 100 standard ones.
Example monthly mixes
- A light free month might include one 30-minute standard meditation, one 20-minute standard meditation, several 10-minute meditations, and several short practices.
- A subscription month can support several premium generations per week, with room for shorter standard practices and some iteration.
- Long premium meditations use credits faster. A 30-minute premium meditation is closer to 12 credits than 4.
Extra credits
Extra credits are for times when you want to create more than your included allowance covers. They can be useful for a busy month, a batch of meditations, or commercial work where you do not want a subscription.
Sold in units
Never expire
Used after included credits
Price
A 10-credit unit starts at $1.20 before tax. Stripe shows the final price, currency, and any tax at checkout.
More details
- Extra credits cost a little more per credit than subscription credits.
- That makes the subscription the better value for regular use.
- Buying credits without subscribing is still available on any plan.
- A positive extra-credit balance unlocks premium voices on any plan.
Commercial use
You own the meditations, scripts, and audio you create in Open Meadow. Commercial and professional use depends on the access you had when the work was created.
Included
Personal only
Stays licensed
Examples of commercial use
- Using a meditation with clients or students
- Including it in a class, course, workshop, app, podcast, or video
- Selling or distributing the meditation outside Open Meadow
- Creating promotional meditations for a business or public channel
Using extra credits for batches
Extra credits are useful when you want to create several meditations at once without subscribing. For example, you can draft with standard voices, test selected versions with premium voices, and spend the remaining credits on final audio.
More details
- During the trial, you can test the workflow, but commercial use still requires a subscription, granted full access, or remaining extra credits.
- Creating, adapting, or rewriting new commercial material later requires active commercial access again.
- The full legal terms are available in the Terms of Service.
When credits run out
If your included allowance and extra credits are both used, creation pauses. You can still listen to saved meditations.
What pauses
New chat, meditation writing, and voice synthesis stop until credits refresh, you subscribe, or you buy extra credits.
What stays available
Your library stays available. Already-generated audio can still be played and downloaded.
