The Love That Continues

Love beyond loss

The Forms We Know

We come to know love through form.

A face. A voice. A familiar place beside us. The way someone laughs or reaches for our hand.

Because love meets us in these forms, we begin to believe it belongs to them.

Then a form disappears, and we feel that love itself has been taken.

We search photographs. We repeat conversations. We return to old moments, hoping they will open and let us enter once more.

But the past cannot become the present again.

The more we ask it to, the more tightly grief closes around us.

Where Grief Begins

The body does not understand absence.

It has been taught where to turn and what to expect.

When the answer no longer comes, our inner world must learn a new arrangement.

This is the labor of grief.

It is the slow discovery that love has not ended, though the way we knew it has.

We keep the pain close because it feels like evidence.

We fear that if the pain softens, the bond will soften with it.

Yet suffering is not the measure of love.

Love does not become more sacred because we refuse to heal.

The Meaning of Letting Go

Letting go does not mean approving of what happened.

It does not mean forgetting or abandoning what mattered.

It means releasing our demand that love return in its former shape.

We look into the night and believe that darkness means absence.

Yet light may still be traveling toward us from a source we can no longer see.

It crosses distances beyond our knowing, carrying the trace of what once burned brightly.

So it is with love.

When its visible form is gone, it continues across the inner distances of our lives.

It reaches us through our tenderness, our courage, and the way we recognize another person's sorrow.

What we have loved continues by illuminating the one who loved it.

Trusting What Continues

Life is always moving what has ended into what is becoming.

We are made not only from what remained, but from everything that passed through us.

The people, places, and dreams we lose become part of how we meet the world.

Life was never asking us to possess them forever.

It was asking us to receive them fully, then carry forward what they awakened.

Arriving in the Body

Now close your eyes.

Take three slow breaths.

With each breath, let yourself become heavier.

Feel the ground beneath you.

Notice where grief has gathered.

Your throat.

Your chest.

Your belly.

Do not ask it to leave.

Simply notice what you have been carrying.

Allowing Love to Reach You

Imagine the night sky opening above you.

One point of light is moving toward you across a vast distance.

You do not need to know where it began.

Only let yourself receive it.

Feel the light touch the places in you that have closed around grief.

Let it move through the memory, the longing, and the ache.

It is not asking you to forget.

It is showing you that love can still arrive in another form.

You do not need to keep grief sharp to keep love true.

Let the old form soften.

Let the light reach you.

Closing

Take one final breath.

Feel how life is still carrying what mattered into this moment.

When you are ready, open your eyes.

What was loved is no longer confined to what is gone.

Its light is alive... in the way you now live.
