This meditation was written by an earlier version of Omi, Open Meadow's chat assistant.
I asked it to create a loving-kindness meditation using voice dictation:
So today I feel like trying something different. I've been thinking about how much it matters to me to practise loving-kindness towards myself and how useful it is. Maybe we can try a short 10-minute meditation, but I'm not quite sure what that could be like. What comes to mind is a way of directing loving-kindness towards myself, perhaps even using some of the traditional wishes, like wishing myself to be happy, to be at peace, and to be loved, while staying with that sense of tenderness. What do you suggest?
Omi suggested three approaches: using traditional phrases, radiating warmth from the chest, or exploring self-kindness through an open-ended inquiry.
We briefly chatted about the structure, and then it wrote the script as is.
The title and script were ultimately written by the in-app meditation writer, which at the time was based on OpenAI GPT-4.1. Our latest version, as of August 2026, is powered by Claude Sonnet 4.6.
The voice here is Max, one of my favourites from ElevenLabs. The music, called “A Piano in the Sky,” is one of the loops we created with ElevenLabs Music.
Settling In, Finding Your Ground
Allow your body to settle in a way that feels supported and easy.
There’s no need to change anything about your experience right now.
If you like, place a hand gently over your heart or on your chest.
Noticing the movement of breath below your hand, if that’s comfortable.
If you wish, sense where warmth or aliveness is most available in your chest, or imagine a small spark of light resting there.
Let this spark be as faint or as clear as it wishes to be, allowing the invitation rather than asking for any particular feeling.
Lighting the Spark: Kindness for This Moment
Quietly offer yourself the phrase: May I be happy.
Let the words be a gentle wish, not a demand.
May I be peaceful.
May I be loved.
Notice the body’s response, if any, or simply rest with the intention.
When you’re ready, repeat the three phrases, softly or in your mind:
May I be happy.
May I be peaceful.
May I be loved.
These words can unfold at the pace of your breath, or whatever timing fits you now.
The Warming Center: Radiating Through the Body
Imagine or sense this spark of kindness beginning to radiate outward through your chest.
Perhaps it’s warmth, or a soft glow, or just a quiet sense of care.
On each breath, this kindness may expand—noticing as it passes through the ribs, the shoulders, the back.
As you breathe, allow this gentle warmth or sense of kindness to move through your whole torso, arms, and down into your legs and feet.
There is no rush or need to reach every part.
This warmth can find its own path, or stay centered wherever it feels right.
If any areas of the body feel distant or closed, that’s welcome too; they do not need to change.
Rest here, with this quiet radiance, for several breaths.
Extending Tenderness: Your Whole Life
If it feels genuine, widen your awareness to include your whole being—your history, your path, your hopes and challenges.
From the quiet spark at your center, see if you can extend the same warmth and kindness outward, touching the wider circle of your life.
You might say inwardly,
May my journey be blessed with kindness,
May my life be held in gentle care.
Let these wishes meet your life as it truly is, not as it should be.
There is nothing to force, nothing to accomplish.
Simply letting kindness radiate as much or as little as it wants.
If you wish, rest here with no words, letting warmth settle wherever it chooses.
Returning with Warmth
Gradually, sense again the presence of the body and the space around you.
Feeling the breath.
Notice where any spark, warmth, or softness may still linger.
When you are ready, open your eyes or reorient to your surroundings, carrying a glimmer of this quiet kindness with you into the moments ahead.
