Introduction
Welcome. This practice offers a pause after a busy or demanding part of your day.
We’ll begin with gentle movement, breathing, and sound to release tension from the body. Then we’ll become still, rest with the breath, and open awareness to the body and the space around you.
We’ll finish by inviting warmth, kindness, and renewed energy.
You’re welcome to adapt any movement or skip anything that does not feel right today.
Find enough space to stand comfortably.
Physical Release
Stand with your feet about hip-width apart and soften your knees.
Begin gently shaking your hands.
Let the movement travel into your arms and shoulders. You might allow the knees to bounce and the whole body to loosen.
Let the body move naturally.
Perhaps imagine shaking off some of the effort of the day. Not forcing anything away, simply giving the body permission to release.
Now let the movement become smaller and return to stillness.
Notice any warmth, tingling, or change in sensation.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
Then breathe out through the mouth with an easy sigh.
Once more, breathe in comfortably.
And let the breath fall out with a gentle sigh of relief.
Now breathe in gently through the nose.
As you breathe out, make a soft humming sound, allowing the exhale to be slow and comfortable.
Take one final humming breath.
Notice the vibration in the face, throat, or chest, and let the sound gradually fade into quiet.
Settling
Come into a comfortable seated position.
Let your hands rest easily. Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Allow the breath to return to its natural rhythm.
There is no need to control it now.
Bring attention to the lower belly.
Feel the belly rise or expand with the inhale, and soften or fall with the exhale.
There is no need to breathe in any special way.
Simply feel the body breathing, letting this movement anchor you in the present moment.
Intention
You might now set an intention to let go of what you no longer need to carry.
Simply by returning, again and again, to the body and this breath.
Thoughts about the day may still appear: plans, conversations, worries, unfinished tasks.
When you notice the mind becoming caught in them, let them be there without following them further.
Nothing needs to be solved right now.
Return gently to the feeling of the belly breathing.
Open Awareness
Allow awareness to widen beyond the breath.
Feel the whole body sitting here, supported by the chair and the ground.
Notice sensations within the body.
Become aware of sounds nearby and farther away.
Let breath, body, contact, and sound all be included.
If the mind becomes caught in the day, gently return to the body.
Rest here.
Letting Go
Notice whether the body is still holding effort anywhere.
With the next natural exhale, invite a little softening.
Whatever remains unfinished can remain unfinished for now.
Renewal
Bring one hand to the chest and the other to the belly, if that feels comfortable.
Feel the warmth of your hands and the movement of the breath beneath them.
Invite a small, easy smile.
Notice any warmth or kindness that is present.
Allow that warmth to spread gently through the body.
Returning
Begin to notice the room again.
The sounds around you. The air against your skin. The ground beneath your feet.
Move your fingers and toes. Perhaps roll the shoulders.
When you are ready, slowly open your eyes.
Let your gaze rest softly on the space around you.
Notice how you feel now.
Perhaps there is a little more space, steadiness, and energy for whatever comes next.
Take one final, comfortable breath in.
And let it go slowly.
Carry this sense of renewal with you into the rest of your day.
