Begin the Day with Intention

Intention setting

Val

Welcome

Welcome. This is a short morning practice for listening inwardly and finding a direction for the day ahead.

We'll begin by settling into the body. Then we'll make room for what is already here, letting different feelings, thoughts, and needs be present without rushing toward an answer.

Arriving

Let's begin by finding a position that feels steady and comfortable.

Take a slow breath in.

And let it go.

Feel the support beneath you.

Let your attention settle in the chest and belly.

Notice the movement of breathing here.

Allow the mind to become a little simpler by staying close to this movement.

When attention wanders, return gently to the body.

Listening

Notice what is here this morning.

Give it time.

Allow anything else that belongs here to make itself known.

Let what is present remain together for a while.

From this grounded place, sense what matters most today.

What feels like a true direction for today?

Let the answer take its own form.

Aligning

When something feels clear enough, let it gather into a simple statement, in your own words.

Repeat it inwardly.

Feel how it lands in the body. Let the words soften or change until they feel true.

Now bring to mind one ordinary moment from the day ahead.

See yourself entering that moment while staying connected to this intention.

Beginning

Prepare to bring this practice to a close.

Take one fuller breath in.

And a slow breath out.

And when you're ready, slowly open your eyes... and have a wonderful day.
